East Leeds FM has existed in many different forms, starting off as a one-off project at John Smeaton School to travelling the world as the Caravan of Love. It’s broadcast on FM and digitally, been regular and been annual but it’s always led by local people.
In 2014 ELFM found a new home at Chapel FM Arts Centre, and for many years these names became interchangeable as the building and the raido station worked together.
And now it’s time for the next stage of the radio station’s jounrey. Starting in September, East Leeds FM will be East Leeds Community Radio. We feel this name better reflects the work we do and the direction it needs to take.
But despite a new name, new logo and new jingles, the ethos and ideas of “from the people, to the people” still remain.
It’s radio, but so much more!
