Mojo 78 are Chapel FM's resident community big band. A fun, energetic group, they will be playing a range of numbers from across the jazz spectrum and also introducing Abtuse.
Abtuse has built a reputation around the Leeds jazz and blues music scene (Seven Arts, LS6 jazz, Inkwell, The Domino, Heart, Head of Steam) over the past five years as a band playing an exciting and eclectic mix of jazz, fusion, funk, latin and blues. It brings together guys with years of experience in rock and blues with others formally schooled in jazz. They share a love of variety in live performance, where the unexpected comes from improvisation. They play recognisable jazz classics their own way and lesser known modern tunes and original material.
"An exhilarating set from Abtuse ! Thanks Guys" . Steve Crocker , Seven Arts Jazz, Leeds.
"Great gig guys! Come again!" Ryan de Warne, The Domino, Grand Arcade, Leeds.
"We want you back!" Richard Rands, Muted Productions.
Abtuse are : Brian Whittington - tenor sax; Alex Celik - trumpet/flugelhorn; Graham Jones- keyboard; Will Powell - guitar; Trev Prinn - double bass/ bass guitar; Josh Steven - drums.
