The Leeds Literature Festival (https://leedslitfest.co.uk) has hired Chapel FM Arts Centre to produce a series of 10 podcasts as part of this year’s festival (running March 4-8). These podcasts will be released during the festival under the name: Leeds Lit Fest Podcast.

The 10 episodes of the Leeds Lit Fest Podcastfall into two categories:

  • Writer Profiles(5 episodes) which will be recorded in January and early February and feature Yorkshire writers going on walks in different Leeds neighbourhoods and talking about how a sense of place inspires their writing. These would be completed and released prior to the start of the Lit Fest.
  • Writing Workshop(5 episodes) which will be recorded during the Festival (March 4-8) and feature writers working with participants, teaching approaches to writing various genres. These will be edited within 48 hours of being recorded and released during the Lit Fest.

Each podcast will be approximately 20 minutes in duration.

For this project, Chapel FM is looking for one or more people with previous radio/podcast production experience to assist with recording, editing and sound design for 5 out of these 10 episodes between now and early March. Candidates will be contracted either on a freelance or salaried basis depending on their current work status and specifically for each of these 5 specific podcasts with the payment for each podcast being £160. Our estimate is that recording, editing and making revisions based on feedback from Chapel FM and Leeds Lit Fest staff will involve a commitment of between 10-14 hours per podcast.
