Technical Information and the small (but important) print

We are delighted at the success of the Chapel FM open mic nights and the talented and diverse range of performers that it brings. Given this success, we are exploring ways of improving the efficiency of setting up acts and avoiding people being disappointed by not being able to perform or in having the night run into the early hours.

Chapel FM is a community arts centre which encourages people from all backgrounds and age groups to enjoy what we have to offer. As a result, it is likely that we will reserve some of the earlier performance slots for our younger performers. Therefore performance slots are not strictly allocated on a first come, first served basis.

In order to ensure that you have the opportunity to perform, please ensure that you arrive at the centre by 7pm on open mic night and give your name/details to the host.

We have a range of backline equipment and cables and will supply the following:

  • 1 Marshall or Orange electric guitar amplifier
  • 1 Fender bass guitar amplifier
  • 1 Korg or Yamaha keyboard
  • All necessary audio cables
  • 3 microphones for singing, rap, poetry or spoken word
  • Drum Kit with 1, Kick Drum, 1 Snare Stand,1 Rack Tom, 1 Floor Tom, High Hat, Crash and Ride Cymbal Stands  (we ask people bring there own breakables)

Therefore, all you need to bring is your own instrument (except keyboards which will be supplied if required).

We can support a maximum of two acoustic instruments, two electro-acoustic instruments, one electric guitar, one keyboard and two singers/poets during a single performance. We also ask that each act is limited to two songs or a performance of no more than 8 minutes. Also, due to time restrictions, we can accommodate the use of our drum kit, we just ask you bring your breakables.

For karaoke performances, please provide your backing tracks on a USB memory stick.
