“What a brilliant, brilliant place to perform in.”
In the last 12 months 1,255 musicians and 485 writers have performed live in the beautiful Chapel FM Radio Theatre.
Every Friday night we hold a live event with a fantastic selection of bands, poets, singers, storytellers…It’s all broadcast live, both audio and video, with a studio audience. Details on our website, social media or direct from Chapel FM.
But on the last Friday of each month (or the penultimate one in this case!) we hand the stage over to you. Anyone who wants to come along and perform a couple of songs, read some poetry or do some comedy. In front of a friendly audience it’s your chance to try out something you’ve been working on for a while or do something completely new.
We always get a friendly audience and you too will be broadcast live through our website and on Facebook live. If you want to book yourself a slot just turn up on the night by 7pm or leave a message at the Chapel with the Centre Manager on 0113 22 55 944. First come, first served or alternatively book a ticket on Eventbrite
And if you want to come along and just enjoy being in the audience, then it’s Pay-What-You-Can on the door and everyone is welcome.
We are delighted at the success of the Chapel FM open mic nights and the talented and diverse range of performers that it brings. Given this success, we are exploring ways of improving the efficiency of setting up acts and avoiding people being disappointed by not being able to perform or in having the night run into the early hours.
Chapel FM is a community arts centre which encourages people from all backgrounds and age groups to enjoy what we have to offer. As a result, it is likely that we will reserve some of the earlier performance slots for our younger performers. Therefore performance slots are not strictly allocated on a first come, first served basis.
In order to ensure that you have the opportunity to perform, please ensure that you arrive at the centre by 7pm on open mic night and give your name/details to the host.
We have a range of backline equipment and cables and will supply the following:
Therefore, all you need to bring is your own instrument (except keyboards which will be supplied if required).
We can support a maximum of two acoustic instruments, two electro-acoustic instruments, one electric guitar, one keyboard and two singers/poets during a single performance. We also ask that each act is limited to two songs or a performance of no more than 8 minutes. Also, due to time restrictions, we cannot accommodate the use of a drum kit.
For karaoke performances, please provide your backing tracks on a USB memory stick.
