We are very pleased to bring you a screening of the silent movie The Cabinet of Dr Caligari in the beautiful Chapel FM Radio Theatre presented with an improvised live score

For nearly a century, the jagged shadows of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari have swept across screens and imaginations the world over. At a carnival in a small German town, hypnotist Dr. Caligari presents the somnambulist Cesare, who, he claims, can predict the futures of curious fairgoers. But at night, the doctor wakes Cesare from his sleep to enact his evil bidding…

For this special screening, musicians from Chapel FM’s Jazz Collective have been working with silent film musician, Jonny Best, to develop their improvised silent film accompaniment skills. Over three rehearsals, the group has explored how to respond to a film in real time, developing musical ideas spontaneously as the story unfolds - and as the audience watches and listens. For one night only, they will bring this classic silent film to life with a new, improvised ensemble score.

Not to be missed!
