ABOUT HEADS TOGETHER PRODUCTIONS
We are a non-profit, registered charity, community arts organization based in Seacroft, East Leeds.
- We operate East Leeds Community Radio – which features more than 40 different radio shows and podcasts on a wide range of arts and other themes, created by members of the community. We also partner with other radio stations and creative sound projects around the UK and the world.
- We run training programmes – that provide people of all ages and backgrounds with skills in making radio and sound art, creative writing, theatre, music, live arts events tech, activism, and community organising, including UNION: The Northern School for Creativity and Activism.
- We have two theatre spaces – where we present a wide range of theatre, music, spoken word, film, community forums and other live arts events as well as creating our own performances.
- We make our unique community venue, Chapel FM Arts Centre, available to others – located in a historic Methodist Chapel built in 1874 and renovated over the past decade through a £1.4 million series of capital projects, hosts a huge range of people, projects, and in-residence arts and third sector organisations to develop and deliver their own projects, including our partners in the We Are Seacroft Network and special community projects like our 3-year Home From Home oral history, radio and performance project.
By joining as a Board Member / Trustee you would have the opportunity to help shape our organization and our role in the community and the wider world, playing a role in making key decisions as we grow in the coming years.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Quite simply, we are looking for passionate people with a desire to dig in and be part of making big-picture decisions, reviewing and making sure we stay true to our mission and vision, overseeing and supporting our staff and freelance artists, developing and overseeing policies, and helping Chapel FM Arts Centre, East Leeds Community Radio and UNION evolve.
More specifically, we would be delighted to have new board members with experience the following areas:
- Communication and Marketing
- HR and Wellbeing Support
- Finance and/or Fundraising
- Radio, Podcasting, the Arts, and Community Organising or Activism
- Education and Working with Schools
- Strategic Planning and Business Development
But we also want to be surprised and can make use of loads of other different skills.
Above all, we want people who will act as a critical friend, offering both support and constructive challenge.
Previous experience on other boards is great, but not essential. We provide training for those serving on a board for the first time.
There are no age or residency requirements although a connection to and/or interest in the communities of East Leeds is desired.
