On Saturday 2nd February, Chapel FM will be presenting over 30 Arts Awards to young people who took part in our courses during 2018.

The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification in arts leadership.

In the autumn of 2018 we put forward all our candidates for moderation and received 38 Bronze and Silver Arts Awards along with the first-ever Gold Awards achieved by Chapel FM participants.

The afternoon will start off with a drumming workshop, by Tongesayi, for all the family, followed by a presentation of the awards by Matthew Sims Head of Arts, Events and Venues at Leeds City Council, and Arts Council’s Relationship Manager for Children and Young people Stephanie Simm.

There will be a musical performance by some of our Associate Band members and some light refreshments and lovely sweet delights made by the Next Generation Cooking Group ‘Little Chefs’.

At 2:30pm on Saturday 2nd February, Chapel FM will host a musical workshop by Tongesayi from ‘Music and Love Band’. Tongesayi will teach you drum rhythms and songs; share his culture and the importance of the drum and dance within it.

The workshop is accessible to all, no musical experience is necessary to enjoy creating and sharing drum rhythms.

We invite you to experience the power of the djembe.
