Summer 2020: Youth Courses in Broadcasting, Music & Writing

This Summer Chapel FM Arts Centre & East Leeds FM are offering courses for young people to 'virtually' come together to create radio, music, writing and more around the themes of exploring the wider world. Find out how you or someone you know can get involved.

Course details

From the week beginning Monday 27th July  Chapel we will be working with young people from East Leeds and beyond to use the power of radio to share their words and music, to connect in wake of coronavirus social distancing.

Courses will be held online, however there will be the opportunity to join in with some outdoor sessions later in August for those who are able and happy to attend.

We will also be partnering with a variety of other youth projects taking place in East Leeds and the wider world to find out all about what they are creating and learning together this summer.

On three Fridays in August (the 7th, 14th and 21st) we will be producing live radio shows to feature the stories, programs and music created by and about young people in our city.

    MUSIC

    Starting week beginning  July 27th   / Age 11-18

    A music project for local young musicians. Join Sian our music worker to explore musical styles, interview musicians, write songs, create and record for our LIVE Summer Broadcast.

     

    BROADCASTING

    Starting week beginning  July 27th   / Age 11-18

    Learn what goes into making a live radio show. Join Jamie our broadcast worker  to plan and create content, run interviews, and be part of our LIVE Summer Broadcast.

     

    WRITING FOR RADIO

    Starting week beginning  July 27th   / Age 14-25

    Join Peter our writer in residence to help craft your words into a poem, a blog, a story, a piece of sound art or a song, and be part of our LIVE Summer Broadcast.

     

    No experience required, just your enthusiasm!
