Love The Words is a bit unique. A local radio programme that serves all you local writers and readers, and offers you a regular air place/space to perform and talk about your work.
6pm: Melissa Wuidart Phillips returns with one of her finely wrought, dreamy Gemstones stories.
6.30: Liars League. Writers write; actors read; audience listens; everybody wins. That’s the philosophy behind the Liars’ League, the wildly successful storytelling project that each month sees pro actors bringing to life exciting new short fiction. Liars’ League Leeds was launched in 2012 as the first regional spinoff from the long-running London event; there are now Liars’ Leagues telling lies as far afield as Hong Kong and New York City. The Leeds Liars have performed at the Beacons Festival, Sedbergh Book Town, Malton Literature Festival, Wakefield Litfest and more. Here they do it on radio!
7.15: From Ilkley Literature Festival: interviews with two writers from the ‘former Eastern Bloc’. Fatos Lubonja, the celebrated Albanian writer, talks about his new book that homes in on the distortions of capitalism in his country. Susan Curtis, founder of Istros Books, talks about her work as a publisher of books from the Balkans. And Peter Kristufek, the Slovakian writer, tells us about his fascinating and controversial new novel, House of The Deaf Man.
7.45: Vickie Orton returns with some storytelling. Great to have her back!
8pm: The Blind McDead Radio Show!
